Welcome to 5/6's Webpage for 2009

Literacy:

Reading: Group work is based on the Momentum Reading Series and comprehension worksheets.  School Magazines and other resources are used during reading activities.

Writing: During Term 1 we will be looking at recounts and narratives.  The text book 'Grammar through Text Types' supports our work.

Spelling: Students are involved in a structured spelling program. Language activities linked to their words are covered.

Talking & Listening:

Students are expected to listen and use news, and other oral presentations to write information reports. Students will be presenting project work to the class in a speech this term.  Later in the year students will have opportunity to present a speech for a public speaking competition and also try out for the debating team.

Maths:

Supporting the implementation of the Stage 3 NSW Maths Curriculum, we are using the 'Maths Plus' text book.

PDPHE:

Dance - On Monday's each Stage 3 class participates in a dance session by FITSCHOOL.  They will cover different types of dance this term.

HSIE:

During Term 1 we are covering "Identity and Government' - linking to our excursion to Canberra.
