Student Safety and Welfare

BE SURE THAT CHILDREN KNOW THE SAFETY RULES FOR OUR BUSY STREETS.

  • Before crossing the street, first look right, then left, then right again.
  • Do not cross if traffic is near, walk across, do not run.
  • There are wombat crossings in Buring Avenue and Fairways Avenue. Children and parents are requested to use them correctly.
  • Do not step out from behind parked cars or buses.
  • Play games in a safe place, away from the street.
  • Ride your bike safely, obey all signs and give correct hand signals. A permission note
must be brought to school before children can ride their bikes to school and helmets
must be worn. Bikes are not to be ridden in the school grounds and bikes must be
    parked in the racks provided.
  • Where there is no footpath, walk on the right hand side of the street facing the traffic.
  • Parents living South, South west of the school are asked to instruct their children to cross Leonay Parade in front of the shopping centre if necessary rather than on the hill around the blind comer.
  • Instruct children to report to the office if they have not been collected as you have
indicated. We can then check on arrangements and the children will not be waiting
    alone.
  • NO STOPPING signs in front of the school mean that cars are not permitted to stop to
let children off between these signs.
  • Warn your child against littering on the way home, visiting friends without permission
    or going anywhere with strangers.
  • Children are not permitted to leave the playground at any time without the Principal's knowledge.
