INVOLVEMENT IN THE SCHOOL AS A LEARNING COMMUNITY

Each State school has a group of parents and community members called the Parents and Citizens (P & C), who become involved with their school and help to meet the needs of the school.

This collaboration promotes the interests of the school by bringing the community together (parents, teachers, community citizens and pupils).

Leonay Public School believes an active P & C is vital in developing strong community spirit as well as, recognizing that excellent parent involvement support experienced staff in providing a wide range of opportunities for our children.  

We organise many social events, working bees, canteen helpers etc that bring parents and friends of Leonay together in an informal and enjoyable way as well as joining together to help the school to raise much needed funds.. As a result of our fundraising, the school has purchased many things for the children that otherwise may not have been possible.

Our P & C is not only concerned with fund raising and the allocation of those funds, it also contributes to the social, cultural and educational needs of the school community. Its role in promoting the parent, teacher and school cooperation and understanding and its place as a forum for parent-school discussion, debate and the exchange of suggestions and ideas cannot be too strongly emphasised.

Our P & C plays a vital role in supporting quality education at Leonay Public School.

By getting involved in our P & C you can help your child get the most out of their time at Leonay Public School.  Remember you can get a great insight into the functioning of the school as well as influence its direction through the P & C. Many hands make light work, so we are always hoping to get more volunteers and making new friends to ultimately enhance our children’s educationand personal development.

MEETINGS

Meetings are held the in the school library.

At these meetings, projects are planned and discussed; ideas and issues are raised and discussed.  The Principal updates parents on school management focusing on curriculum, student and staff welfare, professional development, accountability and community involvement.
