The canteen committee is an auxiliary of the P & C Association and is responsible for the smooth running and profitable operation of the school canteen which is temporarily closed. The canteen aims to provide satisfying nutritious lunches at a minimum cost.
Leonay Public School canteen is run by a group of dedicated and generous volunteers. These people give up their time each week, fortnight or month to provide an invaluable service to our school while at the same time gaining catering skills and work experience.
We are always looking for new volunteers (mums, dads or grandparents) as peoples circumstances change. If you are able to volunteer any time to help in the canteen, please leave your name and phone number at the school office and the canteen supervisor will contact you.
Job Description for a Volunteer Canteen Assistant
To assist the Canteen Supervisor and other volunteers to provide a nutritious recess and lunch for students and staff.

Duties may involve assisting the Canteen Supervisor and other volunteers to:

Process and pack lunch orders.

Prepare food items such as sandwiches and reheat food.

Serve students and staff.

Clean and maintain the work area.
Volunteers need to be:
Lunch Orders:
- Lunch orders to be written on a paper bag with the childs name, class and order.
- Children bring their paper bag and money to school and take it to the Canteen before 9am.
Recess:
- May be ordered at the same time as lunch orders.
Price Lists:
- These are sent home at regular intervals.
